Indepth Scuba has been certifying divers in Canberra since 1998 and functions as considerably more than a training school — it is a life-support service facility for a diving community with no coastline.
That combination is what makes an inland dive centre work. Indepth provides scuba training, equipment sales, servicing and rental, air fills, EANx fills, oxygen fills, cylinder hydrostatic testing and dive travel. For divers who cannot drop into a coastal shop on the way home from a dive, having all of that in one place is not a convenience but a requirement.

The real advantage is what happens afterwards. A holiday course ends when the holiday ends. A local centre can keep supporting a diver with continuing education, trips, servicing and — most valuably — other people to dive with.
For Canberra divers, the club is worth weighting heavily when choosing a centre. Regular ocean diving requires a three-hour drive each way, and that is sustainable when it is organised and shared and rarely sustainable when it is not.
