Meet the site
Dibley's is one of the lesser-documented Lighthouse Bay sites, named by Exmouth operators alongside Blizzard Ridge and Gulliver's. It shares the bay's general character: limestone ridge-line reef rising from sand in 8–15 m, with ledges, cracks and rocky outcrops that concentrate fish in an otherwise sandy area.
Operator descriptions of Lighthouse Bay dives mention rocky outcrops, coral ledges and deep cracks in the reef, large schools of fish, sea snakes, crayfish, shrimp, turtles and reef sharks — all of which apply here. Whitetip reef sharks and wobbegongs rest in the cracks, and the ledges are good places to look for moray eels and nudibranchs. Seasonal visitors include manta rays and humpback whales.
Because individual accounts of Dibley's are scarce, it is best considered an alternative to the main three sites when those are occupied or when the skipper wants variety. It is suitable for Open Water divers and guided Discover Scuba participants in normal conditions.
The bay's hard corals were affected by the 2025 marine heatwave.
Planning notes: Open Water certification is recommended and the site is rated beginner. Expect to spend most of the dive around 12 m, with a maximum of about 15 m. Access is by boat only, and site selection depends on wind, swell and tide on the day. Best season: April–November (whale sharks March–July, humpbacks July–October, mantas year-round). Traffic: moderate (occasional charters/club dives).
