Meet the site
Hangover Bay is a day-use beach in Nambung National Park, a short drive south of Cervantes, and the Turquoise Coast tourism guide lists its southern end as a 2WD-accessible snorkel site. The bay is sheltered by offshore reef, and its inshore limestone reef has ledges and overhangs with sponges, anemones and a mix of temperate and warm-water fish including buffalo bream, western king wrasse, sweep and herring, with rays over the sand.
The site is shallow and easy, suited to families and snorkellers visiting the Pinnacles Desert nearby. Facilities at the day-use area include shelters, barbecues and toilets. It is best in the morning before the sea breeze. Scuba divers will find limited depth, but it is a pleasant snorkel.
