Meet the site
Horrocks is a small, laid-back beach town north of Geraldton, set behind a protective reef that creates a sheltered lagoon popular with families. Marine Life Network describes rocky offshore reefs of 8-20 m with ledges and swim-throughs and various reef species, noting that the water is clearer than at Geraldton, the outer reef is even better, and the site is dangerous in swell.
The limestone reef supports the Mid West mix of buffalo bream, western king wrasse, baldchin groper, dhufish, sweep and rock lobster, with sponges and soft corals in the ledges. It is a destination for self-sufficient divers with their own gear, perhaps staying in the Horrocks caravan park. The nearest air fills are in Geraldton.
