Meet the site

Injidup Natural Spa is one of the most photographed spots on the Capes coast, but it is a swimming hole rather than a dive site. Perth Is OK describes a rock pool north of Injidup Beach where waves crash over the rocks to form a mini natural waterfall and 'spa', with other tidal pools close by, reached by a short walk over rocky outcrops from a small car park on Wyadup Road. The experience varies with tide, time of day and swell - sometimes tranquil, sometimes turbulent - and the larger pools nearby are less sheltered and dangerous in swell.

The key safety message is to stay in the pools. The article warns that currents and swells are much stronger on this coast and that anyone swimming in the open ocean beyond the pools could easily be swept away; there have been serious accidents involving people jumping from the rocks in the area. The Injidup area is also one of the named sanctuary zones in the Ngari Capes Marine Park.

It is included in this database because it was named in the regional brief and because snorkellers often ask about it. On a calm day the tidal pools hold small fish, crabs and anemones, and a mask adds interest, but there is no scuba diving here. Go early to avoid the summer crowds, and never enter when big sets are breaking over the rocks.

The Capes coast between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin faces the Indian Ocean and is famous for its surf, which is exactly what makes diving here so condition-dependent. Long-period south-westerly groundswell can arrive on calm, sunny days, and the regional ocean-safety guide advises observing a site in different conditions before diving it, never diving alone and flying a flag near boat ramps.

Research this site before booking

Injidup Natural Spa is recorded as Shore/Rock Platform in Margaret River & Augusta. The listed access is shore. Confirm the actual meeting point, route and permission to visit; a map pin does not establish any of these.

Topics flagged by the stored research

These are questions prompted by the existing notes, not a verified or complete hazard assessment.

Current and timing
Ask how the operator assesses the current window for the actual route. Historical tide notes are not a departure instruction.
Water movement
Ask how swell and local exposure affect the proposed entry, exit and route.

Historical access notes exist for this record, but have not been independently verified for current use. Request current directions from the operator or site manager rather than following an old entry description.
