It was rated Easy for Open Water divers, with a maximum depth of 18 m and suitable for day and night dives. The description is short: lots to see, including wobbegongs, octopus, nudibranchs and sea dragons.
The name suggests a small rise or bommie on the sea floor, and such features in Batemans Bay typically consist of low rock with kelp, weed and sponges surrounded by sand. They attract resident animals because they are the only structure in an otherwise sandy area. Wobbegongs rest under ledges, octopus make dens in the rock, nudibranchs feed on the sponges and hydroids, and weedy sea dragons drift over the weed. Blue groper, leatherjackets, sweep and red morwong are also likely.
