Pretty Point is a short, easy shore dive near Malua Bay, south of Batemans Bay. Spirit Divers' site guide rated it Easy with a maximum depth of 10 m, suitable for all experience levels and for day or night dives. It describes the site as a great one for all experience levels, a good night-dive option and worth bringing a camera, with best conditions in northerly winds. There is car parking near the entry point on Illabunda Drive.
The point has typical Batemans Bay shallow reef: rock and boulders with kelp and crayweed, sand patches, and small ledges and overhangs. Common life includes wobbegongs and Port Jackson sharks under ledges, stingrays on the sand, octopus, cuttlefish and nudibranchs, with blue groper, leatherjackets, sweep and wrasse over the reef. At night, crabs, shrimps and cephalopods are active.
This is a site for relaxed dives, training and photography rather than scenery. Its shallow depth means long bottom times. It is close to other shore sites such as Garden Bay and Guerilla Bay, giving divers several options depending on wind direction. The published description is brief, so depth and layout here are indicative. Because the site is within the Batemans Marine Park, check zoning before fishing or collecting. On a night dive, leave a light at the car or entry so you can find the way back along the rocks, and keep dives short in winter when the water drops to around 13 °C.
