The Bullock Hole is a Basic Cave-rated sinkhole on the CDAA register, owned by Scotts Agencies Pty Ltd and marked 'site currently closed'.
The Basic Cave grade indicates an open sinkhole where diving is confined to the daylight zone within 40 m, with no penetration of overhead passages. That places it alongside the region's other farm sinkholes such as One Tree, Goulden's and the Sisters. The name follows a common Limestone Coast pattern – sinkholes were watering points and, occasionally, traps for stock, and many carry names from farming history.
Scotts Agencies' other two sinkholes, the Black Hole and Ten Eighty, are closed as well, suggesting a single access decision covers all three. The CDAA negotiates access with private owners on members' behalf, and closures are sometimes reversed when agreements are renewed, insurance issues are resolved or land changes hands. Until then the Bullock Hole is not available, and divers should respect the closure – unauthorised visits jeopardise access across the whole region. It is recorded here so the database reflects the full CDAA register and so divers researching Mount Gambier know not to plan around it. If reopened it would suit CDAA Basic Cave divers. Divers can instead book the open DEW sinkholes such as Goulden's and the Sisters through Parks SA, which offer a similar Basic Cave experience close to Mount Gambier with a straightforward online booking.
