Wells Park Jetty

Meet the site

Wells Park Jetty is one of the smallest sites in the Perth dive directories: Howies Scuba describes it as a tiny dive site with tiny marine life, ideal for teaching children. It stands in about 4 m at East Rockingham, and its main advantage over similar small jetties is visibility, which Howies recorded as averaging over 10 m, far better than the nearby Long Jetty or Palm Beach Jetty.

The pylons carry modest growth of sponges, ascidians and algae and shelter small fish, crabs, shrimps and the occasional nudibranch. Across the sand you may see blue swimmer crabs, stars, whiting and small rays. It is a place for slow looking rather than covering distance, and snorkellers can see most of it from the surface on a clear day.

The site is well suited to families, children in supervised programmes, macro practice with a compact camera and anyone who wants a gentle, sheltered dip. More experienced divers will find more at the Kwinana Grain Terminal and Bulk Jetty to the north or at the Wreck Trail and Point Peron to the south.
