Jeff's Edge is an outer-reef wall near Lady Musgrave Island, dived as a drift at 8-22 m with visibility of 15-30 m. The operator describes a reef wall with overhangs, caves and crevices filled with abundant marine life, and significant water movement that makes it ideal for drifting. The current on the outer edge carries divers along the wall, allowing them to cover a long stretch of reef. The overhangs and crevices shelter reef fish such as parrotfish and coral trout, and the open water along the edge brings whitetip, blacktip and grey reef sharks, eagle, sting and bull rays, sea turtles and pelagic fish. Patches of turtle weed grow on the reef, and hard and soft corals cover the wall. Like all of Lady Musgrave Experience's outer-reef sites, it is run as a guided drift from the custom dive tender Underworld: a divemaster leads a free descent, the group drifts with the current, and the skipper follows to collect everyone after a free ascent. Divers need Open Water certification and recent experience, and book through the Adventure Outer Reef Double Dive or an overnight pontoon package. The caves and crevices are features to look into as you pass, not penetration dives; they are best appreciated with a torch to bring out the colours of the sponges and soft corals in their shade. Jeff's Edge suits Open Water divers who are comfortable in current, and it is a good option for photographers because the wall provides both structure and background for sharks and rays passing in the blue. As with other Lady Musgrave outer sites, the choice of Jeff's Edge on a particular day depends on wind and tide, so be flexible.
