The Canyons is one of Lady Musgrave Experience's outer-reef drift sites in the Capricorn Bunker Group, featuring pristine plate corals, a large variety of exotic fish and pelagics in an untouched reef environment. It is dived as a drift along a reef wall at 8-22 m, with visibility typically 15-30 m. Encounters typically include sharks, turtles, sea snakes and pelagic species, and hard and soft corals cover the site. The plate corals are the visual highlight, forming broad tiers along the wall that shelter reef fish beneath them. Like all of Lady Musgrave Experience's outer-reef sites, it is run as a guided drift from the custom dive tender Underworld: a divemaster leads a free descent, the group drifts with the current, and the skipper follows to collect everyone after a free ascent. Divers need Open Water certification and recent experience, and book through the Adventure Outer Reef Double Dive or an overnight pontoon package. The name suggests canyon-like formations along the reef edge, but the operator's description emphasises the wall and plate corals rather than any specific topography, and the exact position is not published. The Canyons suits Open Water divers comfortable in current. Its moderate depth range allows divers to stay shallower among the plate corals or go a little deeper along the wall, following the guide's plan. It should not be confused with Coral Canyons at Heron Island, which is a separate, shallow canyon site on Heron Reef. Sea snakes are a feature of several Bunker Group reefs and are generally curious rather than aggressive.
