The Caves is a reef wall dive on the outer reef of the Capricorn Bunker Group with plenty of overhangs, caves and crevices, making it particularly suitable for underwater photography and videography. It is dived as a drift at 12-24 m, with visibility of 15-30 m. The operator lists sharks, turtles, sea snakes and pelagic species among the regular encounters, and hard and soft corals cover the wall. The overhangs and caves provide shaded recesses where soft corals, sponges and schooling fish gather, and where a torch reveals colours lost at depth. Like all of Lady Musgrave Experience's outer-reef sites, it is run as a guided drift from the custom dive tender Underworld: a divemaster leads a free descent, the group drifts with the current, and the skipper follows to collect everyone after a free ascent. Divers need Open Water certification and recent experience, and book through the Adventure Outer Reef Double Dive or an overnight pontoon package. The operator notes that even the most experienced divers love The Caves, which suggests it is among the more dramatic outer sites. The caves are features to look into from outside as the drift passes, not for penetration. At up to 24 m, it is one of the deeper sites in the programme, so divers should manage their no-decompression time carefully. It suits Open Water divers with experience and comfort in current, and it is particularly rewarding for photographers.
