The habitat described – small boulders and crevices – offers shelter for fish and invertebrates. In Twofold Bay such reefs typically hold blue groper, sweep, leatherjackets, wrasse, luderick and bream, with eastern blue devilfish and wobbegongs in the crevices, and octopus, cuttlefish and nudibranchs. Below 15 m, where light and wave action decrease, sponges, sea squirts and gorgonians add colour. Weedy sea dragons are common in the Eden area, particularly around East Boyd Bay.
