The idea
Heat moves between the body and its surroundings. Water temperature, exposure time, activity and protection all influence comfort. A forecast air temperature is not a substitute for information about the water and the planned activity.
For a course or trip, discuss the exposure protection available and how to communicate discomfort. This lesson does not prescribe a suit thickness for everyone. A useful preparation note records the water conditions, the equipment worn and what you experienced, so the next conversation is based on specifics.
