The idea
Equipment can differ in layout, controls and configuration. A familiar brand name does not mean every item works the same way. Buddy preparation includes understanding relevant differences using the procedures learned in training.
Ask your instructor to demonstrate unfamiliar equipment and supervise appropriate practice. Do not rely on a cartoon or a short article to learn emergency operation. The aim here is to recognise when a difference needs a proper explanation.
