The idea
It helps to name what worries you. A concern about unfamiliar equipment is different from uncertainty about swimming, visibility or learning in a group. Write the concern in a sentence so that an instructor can respond to the actual issue rather than an assumed one.
Ask how the provider introduces unfamiliar experiences and how you can request a pause. You do not need to compete with another student’s pace. A useful personal goal is to communicate clearly and ask for an explanation when something is unclear, not to hide uncertainty.
Make the concern specific

Put it in context
| Idea | What it means | Question to explore |
|---|---|---|
| Unfamiliar equipment | I want to understand what this part does | Can we identify the parts before the session? |
| Learning pace | I may need more time | How can additional practice be arranged? |
| Group setting | I want to know how to ask for support | How do I get the instructor’s attention? |
