The idea
Learning to dive combines understanding with physical skills and judgement. Reading helps you build vocabulary and recognise questions. Supported practice lets an instructor observe how you apply ideas. Assessment establishes whether you have met the requirements of the particular programme.
Progress is not a race through a calendar. If a concept is unclear, record the question and raise it before the next activity. Your instructor may explain it another way or arrange more practice. Finishing an online module does not, by itself, demonstrate an in-water skill.

Put it in context
| Idea | What it means | Question to explore |
|---|---|---|
| Study | Builds understanding | Can I explain the idea in my own words? |
| Practice | Builds skills with feedback | What feedback should I work on? |
| Assessment | Checks programme requirements | What remains to be demonstrated? |
